Stumbled up on this cool drum machine

pluraldev.com/drumbit/

Not tried the paid version yet (costs $1.99), but I think you need this to be able to alter the time signature.

To be able to use drum machines you need to be able to count.

Can you count?

TIME SIGNATURES

The amount of divisions on the drum track is 16.

What time signatures can can be split in to 16 sections?

  • 4/4 means 1 bar equals 4 Quarter Notes
    • 16/4 = 4 divisions per beat
  • 3/4 means 1 bar equals 3 Quarter Notes
    • 16/3 = 5 divisions per beat with one left over
  • 3/8 means 1 bar equals 3 Eight Notes
    • 16/3 = 5 divisions per beat with one left over
  • 5/16 means 1 bar equals 5 Sixteenth Notes
    • 16/5 = 3 divisions per beat with one left over

So we end up up with a really small list:

  • 4/4
    • 4 divisions per beat

If it had 12 divisions available then things get more flexible:

  • 4/4
    • 3 divisions per beat
  • 3/4
    • 4 divisions per beat
  • 6/8
    • 2 divisions per beat
  •  12/8
    • 1 division per beat

So sticking with 4/4, set yourself up with a basic beat and jam, practise scales, rhythms, all that stuff.

The image shows a basic 4/4 pattern with kick, snare, and hi/hat
